About Me: Josephine Marotta

I’ve had the privilege of living in Douglaston for over 40 years, and during that time, I’ve developed a deep understanding and appreciation for the area. Originally from Astoria and having lived in Forest Hills for seven years before settling in Douglaston, I have a rich connection to the neighborhoods of Queens. I’m also passionate about my Italian heritage, as I am a first generation Italian in America, it’s my love for the community that truly connects me to the people here.

A Lifetime of Experience in Real Estate and Design

Before entering the world of real estate, I spent 15 years in the fashion industry, working as a Fashion and Design Coordinator for women’s sportswear. My career included designing personal wardrobes for a high-profile client and preparing lines for sales presentations and magazines. I also ran the production department for a multi-million-dollar company and served as the assistant to the company president, where I played a key role in bringing new design ideas to the table. These experiences sharpened my attention to detail and reinforced the importance of listening to clients' needs—skills I now bring to my real estate career.

My Journey: From Fashion to Real Estate

My journey into real estate was inspired by my own experience of purchasing a home in Douglaston. The agent who helped me was patient, knowledgeable, and truly cared about my happiness. This experience motivated me to pursue a career in real estate, where I could provide that same level of personalized care and attention to my clients. After obtaining my real estate license from St. John’s University and holding certifications in several specialized areas, I’ve been able to offer my clients exceptional service for over 35 years.

Community Involvement & Personal Life

In addition to my professional work, I am deeply involved in the Douglaston community. I’m a proud member of the Douglaston Women’s Club, where we support local charities, and the Douglaston Garden Club, which focuses on civic beautification and teaching children about nature and environmental care. I’m also involved with the Douglaston Civic Association and Saint Anastasia Church. In addition, I participate in the Visiting Nurse Service (VNS Health). I’m passionate about making a positive impact in my community through these organizations. Family is the cornerstone of my life, and I’ve been happily married for 51 years. I have two children—twins, a son and a daughter—and four beautiful grandchildren that bring a great deal of joy to my life.
